Meet the Team
Our Raleigh, NC based team is the primary contact point for HPN Select participants. Select’s Procurement Specialists identify and support operational requirements through effective negotiation with vendors to achieve competitive, contractual agreements with a range of vendors at national, regional and local levels. With an array of specialties covering a comprehensive range of property and overhead-related expenditure categories, our team will closely manage all of the vendor and participant activities.
Mark is a recognized leader in the multifamily industry. Most recently, he worked with one of the nation’s largest renovation, investment and management companies, Bell Partners Inc.(Bell). Other notable companies included AIMCO, Gables Residential and Pinnacle Realty.
With a heavy emphasis on leveraging Bell’s buying power, expense management and revenue enhancement, his focus was procurement, vendor relations, energy management, contract administration and ancillary income. His vision for HPN Select is to provide its members/shareholders with a mission driven platform through procurement, people and technology.
Mark holds the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM) through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and is a member of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). He earned a Bachelor of Science from Francis Marion University and studied for a Masters Degree at Emory University.
Chris has 15 years experience in Procurement in high-tech engineering companies, most recently at Leidos Inc., a Fortune 500 company.
He has managed large operational teams and has been responsible for overseeing in excess of $200M of annual expenditure.
At Leidos, he worked on a variety of strategic steering committees to develop enhanced procurement policies and procedures. He has deep experience of leading initiatives to drive cost savings, and competition and audit compliance to new levels. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University.
Business Development Director
Joan has 16 years experience in commercial construction and most recently worked as a Commercial Business Development Sales Manager for a leading building material manufacturer.
She also has experience of running her own General Construction business.
Joan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
Procurement Manager (East Region)
With over 7 years’ experience in Procurement, Adam joined HPN Select in December 2015 after spending a year at Cisco Systems. During his career, Adam has managed categories including construction, MRO, technology, and vehicles. Throughout his experience, Adam has worked with large corporations, local/state government, as well as group purchasing organizations in a variety of procurement roles.
His current job functions at HPN Select include managing the relationships with Cintas, Schindler, Metro Service Solutions, CDW, and HD Supply, as well as actively monitoring HPN Select’s social media activity through Twitter and LinkedIn. In his role, Adam has worked closely with a variety of suppliers in order to find the best solutions for members through competitive sourcing activities.
Adam received a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Western Carolina University. Prior to graduation he spent the summer of 2009 interning at French West and Vaughan and learned from experts within the Public Relations industry.
Procurement Manager (Central Region)
Laura joined HPN Select in May of 2016 as a Procurement Specialist within the HPN Select team. Her primary job function is the management of various vendor relationships for both direct and indirect categories, and providing value to members through competitive sourcing activities.
Laura has both marketing and procurement experience having worked for several Fortune 500 companies such as Bayer, Biogen, and The Pantry, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in both Supply Chain/Operations and Marketing, from North Carolina State University.
Procurement Manager (West Region)
Jeff Smith joined in February 2016 as a procurement manager within the HPN Select team. His primary function is the management of vendor relationships with key suppliers and driving value for the members through strategic sourcing initiatives.
Jeff has over 8 years of procurement and manufacturing experience and most recently performing procurement consulting with a global technology conglomerate for a number of Fortune 500 clients in sectors ranging from retail to high-tech manufacturing.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Supply Chain and International Business from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Jordan joined HPN Select in December 2016 as a Procurement Analyst. His primary function will be managing and administering an assigned category of spend across HPN, delivering purchasing services to customers.
Most recently he held the position of Business Analyst with SciQuest, Inc., now known as Jaggaer. Jordan has over 5 years of experience in Procurement in a variety of roles, including expertise in purchasing and forecasting.
Jordan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain/Operations from North Carolina State University.
